Yesterday, the 16th, was Georgie's, opps! I mean
George's 14th birthday. He informed me
Georgie sounds too childish, so now it is
George!! He also informed me that he does not want a party, a cake, or anything. But, Oliver wanted to make him cupcakes and I allowed him to do that. What is a birthday without
something?
Our church family did something different yesterday. We gathered at 8:30 for breakfast around a campfire in the woods. Scrambled eggs, bacon, baked oatmeal, fruit and birthday cupcakes. Was delicious! And even more different, we took communion sitting around the fire. It was so neat and special! Every so often the neighbor man would shoot his gun. We started feeling like we were possibly the next persecuted Christians. It was a reminder that there are many Christians who realize that if they are caught worshipping the Lord Jesus Christ, they will lose their lives. We are so blessed with religious freedom - freedom to worship wherever we choose with whoever we choose. Let's not take that for granted, but continue to pray that those freedoms will remain for many, many, MANY more years to come.
Happy Birthday, George! You are growing into a nice young man! Love ya gobs!
Until next time..............
